Fallout Inspired Prop
We are big fans of the video gamer series Fallout. The door is modelled after the vault in Fallout 4 – it This Fallout inspired vault door prop is hand painted, cold-cast iron.
The resin used for this project would not be safe for a water filled aquarium, but it makes a cozy cave for micro rad scorpions. We tried it out with a few creepy crawlies and snuggled right in.
We pulled out a few more nerdy items to try it with and displayed our Pop! Vinyl figures from Fallout with the door too!! It is perfect as a display piece to accompany Fallout collectibles.
The final vault door measures 28.4 cm X 15.3 cm [11.18″ X 6.02″ Freedom Units]. The mold was designed in Inventor and output from Renshape on a CNC milling machine. We cold-cast iron, a process that embeds metallic dust in resin, so the object appears to be made of metal but weigh significantly. We collaborated with painter, Nurgle for President, on weathering and painting the final piece. At the end of the project, we sold a few of these on Etsy.
